Shark fin soup? Say what?!
Extinction of the most important species of sharks is a distinct possibility in our lifetime. After all, we are fishing sharks at the rate of 250,000 every single day.
Sharks are an incredibly important part of the ocean’s ecosystem. In North Carolina, when overfishing caused a decline in the number of sharks, the sting ray population exploded. And with all the sting rays came a devastating blow to the scallop and clam populations.
This video explains all that sharks are up against, including being turned into soup:

Stop shark finning! Is stupid
It's so sad.
Money, Money, Money is all its about, we will wipe out everything including ourselves and for what GREED. That is SICK!
They have been around for 450 million years virtually unchanged, and the disgusting human race will have wiped them out in about 30 years. I wish that I could relinquish my species cause it is a shame to be associated with garbage.
This is a very sad story. Other animals has to go only because "we" humans do not want to share the world with other life forms, these life forms "we" would not eat (vegetarian food is not a bad idea, or eating with conscience as the so called primitive cultures did and still do, if they still exist. No meat/fish every day). "We" destroy averything around us and "we" forget, that everything is important to survive, too.
As little child i thought that rain is when God and the angels cry - because "we" humans have forgotten that we need this "intelligence", someone who could help... if "we" hadn't turned away for many centuries ago...
"Only when the last tree has been cut down; Only when the last river has been poisoned; Only when the last fish has been caught; Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten."

"We have learned to fly the air like birds and swim the sea like fish, but we have not yet learned the simple art of living together as brothers." (Martin Luther King)
Our oceans are in serious trouble with the plastic trash that we have floating in garbage patches all over the world. Our oceans are over fished to the point where many marine species will probably be extinct soon.
true verry true ... humans think they are the masters of the earth ... altough we are kids in a learning process , realy doing dumb things everytime again .. nature wil learn us a lesson soon ..
Shark finning is absolutely barbaric, it's right up there with whaling in my opinion. What the hell is wrong with people. We're sending species extinct, for what...to experience to 'exotic' cuisine? Absolutely pathetic.
When we run out of sharks, what then, lawyer fin soup?
