Why Tar Sands Oil Is The Dirtiest On Earth [Video]

Why Tar Sands Oil Is The Dirtiest On Earth [Video]

Thousands of Americans have petitioned, marched, and been arrested in an effort to stop the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. In fact, a poll [PDF] conducted in early 2012 showed that, when fully educated about what tar sands oil really is, and where the oil flowing through the pipeline would actually end up, a majority of Americans oppose the pipeline.

Despite this overwhelming demonstration of disapproval, the White House refuses to keep its promise of moving America beyond oil. Portions of the Keystone XL are already under construction, and Big Oil is using its financial and political clout to make sure the rest of this cross-country pipeline follows suit.

Many people make judgement about energy based on the things that affect them most: the price of gas or their personal utility bill. They fail to see the larger picture of who actually stands to benefit from the exploitation of tar sands oil. That’s why the Sierra Club today released The Dirtiest Oil on Earth, an animation on the dangers of tar sands crude and pipelines transporting the world’s dirtiest oil from Alberta, Canada, through the United States.

The animated short film, featuring narration by actor Joshua Jackson, illustrates the dangers of spills, destruction of natural areas, contamination of air and water supplies and political influence exerted by the oil industry to build pipeline projects designed to transport tar sands across the US to reach foreign markets.

TWICE THE CONCLUSION WAS CUT OFF.....here is the CONCLUSION

Then once the NiMH battery at a level that should be at least the PANASONIC EV95 (circa 1998) plus 50% improvement (circa 2005 ) then in a world full of millions of cars local workshops can get to work converting gas cars to pure 100% electric vehicles. CHEVRON is not only denying people vital technology but a model of democratic economic wealth and innovation that their fascism loathes. The same batteries are needed for storing energy from solar and wind.

So COME ON and sign my PETITION put this shorthand title into search engine

End CHEVRON OIL veto

Allow me to explain better this time. It is okay complaining about the Tar Sands fine I hate the bloody Tar Sands and XL Pipeline crap. But most of you complainers have an apathetic aversion toward actual solutions. When some Petrolhead points his macho finger in your faces and shouts in your face "YOU DON'T HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE!!" In the case of most of you he is 100% correct. Anyone can be a complainer but it takes more serious knowledge and imagination to offer actual do-able and real solutions.
CHEVRON OIL has kept the worlds best electric car battery in prison for a decade we need to get dissolved the CHEVRON veto power over a technology they sold and is now owned by a second owner since it was first sold off. CHEVRON retains a veto power that prevents anyone making large size high density NiMH automotive EV batteries. The oil regime will continue as long as people keep driving on the stuff.
The BIG AUTO companies will NEVER do real electric cars they only do Compliance electric cars as greenwash propaganda for their trust-us-its coming-in the future PR lies.
The solution is NOT ...MASS PRODUCTION the solution is MASS CONVERSION. The first is top down and it leaves people feeding corporation all the wealth. The second is resource recycling,
community based and democratic with the wealth staying among people. We need a major political campaign to get the veto dissolved.

My father was a petroleum engineer, a mining engineer and someone who went from being employed by Texaco in the 50's to working in the wilderness preservation program in the 70's...may he rest in peace.

He told us over 40 years ago that tar sands and shale "oil" was wrong, uneconomical and outrageous as a means of obtaining oil. This was before the whole green movement--if he could think so then, imagin how he would think now?

(He hated Texaco so much after he quit in 1959 that he never again would stop at a Texaco station--even on a cross country trip!) "Just hold it, kids, till the next stop!" LOL

I wholly agree with Marc D and I am ashamed of our harpo government which I did not vote for.
Hope for the Greens or NDP in 2015.
