Support Ontario, New York Humane Society with Funding To Continue Their Crucial Work

This is a crucial organization that provides a great service to the community, taking in and caring for neglect, abuse animals. Just recently, animal control officers seized 10 horses, two cows, a sheep and a goat that were malnourished. This is just a sample of what the Ontario County Humane Society does with the help of other local shelters, horse rescues and more in order to give such animals a better life. In doing so, the animal care and vet bills encumbered in abuse cases can skyrocket. In just this animal seizure situation alone, a spokesperson, Ms. Vaughn for the Society states that “The bill is more than $40,000 and still tallying. It might get up to $50,000 by the time it’s done." They need help or they cannot continue to carry out their excellent work providing for unfortunate animals.

It is true that the Humane society works from funds generally donated by people who care about the livelihood and well-being of animals. Sometimes it is just not enough and the local government needs to step in and provide for their good service. Ms. Vaughn for the Humane Society stated that “When you look at the money spent on this seizure case, that’s a lot of our budget to take care of those animals. We want people to get involved in those fundraisers, and we hope people will support us and donate to us. The money that goes into the animal cruelty case fund gets used for that purpose only, not administrative costs, just caring for the animals.”

The Ontario County Humane Society is truly appreciative of all help and support in running their organization to care for animals in abusive, cruel situations. Costs can be significant and the Humane Society is asking for more funds to do their work in the name of animals. They believe so much abuse and neglect is in part the result of a failing economy. “We’re just seeing more and more people not taking care of their pets. We get numerous calls daily from people who are moving and can’t take their pets or just can’t take care of them."
