German Justice Minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger has written a letter to Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble asking him to give registered gay couples a tax break, by changing the law so that registered same-sex partnerships have the same tax treatment as married, straight couples.
There are around 23,000 same-sex partnerships registered in Germany, and their unequal tax status costs them around $37 million more than heterosexual married couples.
Please stand with German Justice Minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger and support equal tax treatment for same-sex couples!
Dear Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble,
I am writing to you today concerning the tax status for same-sex couples in registered partnerships in Germany. Right now, they do not have equal tax status, which costs them around $37 million more than heterosexual married couples.
Please give these couples a tax break in the form of equal tax status.
Thank you for your time.
