Meet Dan Graham
Dan is 39 years old and lives in Ontario, Canada. The following excerpts are from an email interview with the artist:
I really have not done much work in the art world since High School. I took "Art" figuring it was an easy credit to help get my High school diploma. That was back in 1973 and I have not done much art work since then.
I worked most of my life in factories until I was injured in 1995. I was then placed into a rehabilitation program to train for something other than factory work. Computer animation was an option that I had an interest in. I was in one course that showed me some things and brought out my hidden art fascination which I didn't know I had or interested in. I guess I fantasized of being in the movies or making my own movie but I was too shy and not comfortable being in front of an audience. Animating has opened the door to allow me to express myself. I have always been creative and like to laugh!
I had to withdraw from the most recent course I was taking (graphic arts and life drawing) after a month due to the complications of my injury. I decided to buy a computer to try to teach myself animation at home at my own pace. I have been doing these animations since December, 1998.
My windows NT has a basic Paint brush program, and I found Ultimate Paint from visiting Fortisgraphics (a free download) that I find useful. I put it all through Microsoft's gifmaker or one of the many free programs that I found.
I welcome everyone to visit my website to share a laugh or two (humor is great medicine )! If I can get one person to laugh then I have done my job. Be happy and enjoy life! Life is not a rehearsal.
