10 Handmade Sandals for Summer

If you have to wear shoes (and who actually likes doing that), they might as well be comfortable. Sandals are great because they’re often comfy and they have the added benefit of allowing your feet to breathe a bit. After months of winter and feet locked up in boots and kicks, it’s nice to change it up for the warmer months! Pedicure excuse, anyone?

In my quest to always buy handmade and vintage, I recently went looking for some awesome sandal options online and I was not disappointed. Below are ten of my favorite finds and I hope you’ll let me know your own in the comments below!

This awesome company makes 100 percent genuine leather sandals in Greece, where each pair is uniquely crafted. My favorites are these fresh red leather cherry slip ons, cut by hand. Rather have another fruit or animal, even? They can hook you up. (Anoushe, $73)

These gorgeous crocheted suede shoes are a one of a kind pair! Size US 8. The uppers are beige suede which has been fully lined in leather and a gorgeous orange crochet flower has been stitched in the middle. The thread is durable yet soft. The platform is made from wood, which has been treated with a polyeurathane varnish for strength and protection. There is a leather insole in tan which has a padded heel. There is hidden elastic at the back of the ankle strap which allows you to get them on and off easily. (Karen Kell, $250)

These vintage-inspired wedges feature braided leather accents, a charming peep toe, and an adjustable ankle strap with brass buckle closure and hidden elastic. They are made of high quality soft leather. (ELF ELF, $140)

These comfy and classic black leather sandals feature a thick leather strap on the front of your foot that adds extra comfort and straps that connect around the ankle adding full-power support & stability. Offered in several other colors. (Sandali, $55)

I love this artist’s statement: “My mission is to make shoes that complete a stylish outfit, while allowing the wearer to walk without pain. I believe that nothing speaks more clearly than excellent materials executed with skill and simplicity. I believe an investment in something beautiful that lasts will always pay off.” To keep her environmental impact low, the wood is FSC certified sustainable cherry. She also uses non-toxic wood finish, and vegetable tanned leather. (Moxie Shoes, $190)

Moxie was definitely my favorite shoemaker discovery, and I also fell for these t-strap peep toe wedges. They’re distinctive, yet something that you can wear with anything. My dream shoe! (Moxie Shoes, $190)

Are you a flip flop gal? These comfy sandals are available in Natural Brown, White, Black, Red, Green, Blue, Dark Brown and Gold and are made from thick cow leather making them very strong. Soles are rubber. (Nikola Sandals, $39.50)

Looking for something more unique than everyday staple? I love these European made sandals featuring sophisticated craftsmanship. (Calpas, $55)

High quality original Greek leather sandals in black with extra long braided straps, handcrafted from satin jersey fabric in yellow. The shop features a ton of variation in color and material for sandals just like these. (Greek Chic Handmades, $75)

This shop affordably re-purposes plain Jane sandals into something unique. I love these Wet Seal thong sandals that she upgraded with owl charms! US size 7. (Hint of Sunshine, $25)
