10 Unusual Uses for Peanut Butter

1. Removing Sticky Labels

Those orange oil products for removing sticky labels often contain other chemical solvents, but you can dissolve the glue from labeled glass bottles with peanut butter instead! Just spread on the peanut butter, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and with just a little scrubbing it should rub right off with a cloth soaked in warm water.

2. Cleaning Leather

To keep leather in good condition, you need to moisturize it from time to time, and oily peanut butter works great! Unlike using straight up oil, the gooey peanut butter is less runny and messy. Just rub the peanut butter in, wipe off with a damp cloth, and follow up with a mild cleaner. Don’t skip the cleaner step, because if you don’t get the peanut butter residue off once the oil’s soaked in, you’ll attract pests.

3. Moisturize Your Hair

Massage peanut butter right into your scalp for a super simple DIY hair mask that tackles too-dry locks. Follow up with shampoo in the shower, and your hair will be shiny and beautiful!

4. Banishing Gum

Did gum get stuck in your hair or in the carpeting? Peanut butter to the rescue! Rub peanut butter into the gum and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, and just like with the sticky labels the oil will soften things up, so the gum will come away easily.

5. Tackling an Ant Problem

Combine 2 teaspoons of peanut butter with 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and a teaspoon of borax to make DIY ant bait. Just make sure you don’t use the bait around pets. You don’t want your dog or cat eating borax!

Best mouse trap bait you can use. Far better than cheese. Must try it for the ants.

Moisturizing hair!? ... Then, how would I get rid of the smell of peanut butter from my hair! No way! ... Also, cleaning leather? Same thing ... then getting rid of the stench of peanut butter would be the next problem to solve. I really like the idea of using it to trick our pets to take their medication, though. That is a good idea. Thanks!

I always add some flavouring to home-made bread, and have any number of different extras, but peanut butter is the best ever!

One thing is certain.
I have been buying almond butter, in place of regular peanut butter.
