11 Handmade Throw Pillows For Your Home

Couches looking a little lonely? Wanting something extra for your bed? Handmade throw pillows are a great way to toss some personality onto your furniture. Whether you’re into a really great fabric, celebrating your home state, an inspiring quote or your favorite animal, there are tons of options out there for pillows. Check out my top eleven picks and then use the comments to chat about your favorite pillow at home!

These adorable pillows are ready to make a fun, kitschy statement in your home. Great pop art! They are silk screened on the front, and backed with vintage fabric…white matlesse or white vintage chenille for the girls, and vintage ticking for the boys. The boys measure about 10in. wide, and 12 in. long. The girls are approx. 12 1/2 inches in diameter. Would be a fun gift for both little and big girls or boys. (Vintage Jane, $24)

Cloud cushion hand sewn and embroidered with ‘Sweet Dreams” detail. Perfect for a nursery or as a decorative pillow for your child’s bedroom. Measures approx 27cm/10.5 inches across. There are medium cushions available if you want a bigger cushion. Patterned cotton fabric on back. (The Fox in the Attic, $41)

Hot pink butterflies pop on this soft grey background, creating a striking accent for any girl’s room. This modern design works as well for babies as it does for big girls. A perfect decorative throw pillow for a pop of color in any bedroom or fun living room. Made with love in a studio in Belmont, MA. Hand cut appliqués, hand embroidered details, and machine stitched to ensure durability. (Cheeky Monkey Home, $168)

Any “Jerry Maguire” fans in the house? I love this 16″ x 16″ (approx.) pillow with the most classic line from the film. 100% cotton, linen weave, hand-pulled screen print with black ink. Envelope enclosure, spot clean only. Listings does not include the pillow insert. You can find an insert at your local craft store. (Michelle Dwight, $32)

A great little reminder. Each inspirational quote pillow cover is made from 100% natural linen fabric that is first washed with organic laundry soaps, then hang-dried. Once dry, each length of fabric is pressed and hand-cut; the pieces are then sewn – each hem with double-stitching, and reinforced around the corners and edges for extra durability. Finally, each pillow is hand-stamped with fabric-safe inks, creating a one of a kind pillow. Each pillow is lovingly made in a workshop, and slight variances in the designs and layouts are treasured signs of each hand-crafted pillow. The pillow covers are machine washable in cool water, air dry flat, and iron (while damp) on medium to high heat. (Casa and Co, $45)

These are neat ideas.

A suggestion is to take a baby or toddker shirt.Long/short and a soft fabric is great and stuff the shirt. They are adorable. I think I lucked out with one shirt from a niece when she was very young/toddler not really yet but I kept that pillow and used it daily for 20 years.

You can use an adult shirt too. I suppose if you find the right adult shirt and cozy ,you would have the arms to go around you. I did have long armed shirts even though smaller and they were perfect.. I just used toddler sizes and did only a few. They look great and have meaning.....

So simple. Try it..
