12 Ways To Have a Fun, Guilt-Free Camping Trip

  • 3 of 4

5. Bring LED flashlights or lanterns. These require much less power than traditional flashlights and have a longer service life. Shake or wind-up flashlights require no batteries and can last up to 30 hours.

6. Instead of the usual paper or Styrofoam dishes, bring reusable supplies and wash them after the trip. This probably isnít the best time to break out the wedding china, but kids’ plastic plates or plastic reusable dishes will work.

7. The above tip gets counteracted if youíre using soap with toxic chemicals! Be sure to bring biodegradable soap and wash dishes away from water sources.

8. Use Citronella candles. Citronella is a tall grass with a lemony scent and its essential oils are used to repel insects. If you like the good old fashion spray, use organic insect repellent.

Camping is a delight and if someone does not wish to camp, follow your own advice and leave the rest of us out of it. Soon we won't be allowed to exit our homes because we might do something wrong. There are some people who camp or do other things without caring but not everyone is a sociopath.

Finding gelatin free marshmallows...difficult ...or tasty tofu hot dogs--just is not going to happen.

Not all of us have costco cards so I just stop off at my local bulk food store and root around in there for various supplies.

Colleen P, if I get killed by animals, well too bad so sad, could be worse and get hit by a train or truck, we all die sometime! Not everyone wants to confine themselves to the indoors and watch life go by on video or in glossy photographs.

simple don't go camping, camping is like busting into your neighboors house and pretending to own it. best you leave nature and animals alone and make tents in your house, look at photos on a computer or watch shows on tv.

don't come crying if your family gets killed by animals.

"Going off the beaten path can cause soil erosion and the stomping of native plants."..Seriously? The extent of restrictions that are imposed on us and we're to impose on ourselves...just wow. It's astounding.
