Itís no surprise to most people that cell phones emit radiation. Technically, it is known as low-level radio frequency or RF which is similar to that emitted by microwaves. And, you may recall the warning labels on microwaves that instruct people not to stand too close to microwaves while they are running.
Research showing that cell phone use can be linked to brain cancer is conflicting. There is sufficient data to show that cell phone use affects brain activity and brain glucose levels after use. And last year the World Health Organization declared cell phone radiation to be a potential carcinogen. So there is definitely enough cause for concern.
While the scientists battle it out in the laboratories, here are 14 ways you can reduce your exposure to cell phone radiation:
1.† Go old school. Use a land line as much as possible.
2.† If you must use a cell phone, use it infrequently and keep calls short. If your BFF really is your best friend forever she or he will understand.
3.† Use the speaker phone on a cell phone to keep the device further away from your head.† Youíll still be exposed to some radiation but it reduces the amount near your head.
4.† Use earbuds with your cell phone if possible. Again, this is to keep the cell phone farther away from your head.
5.† Choose a phone that emits less radiation. More manufacturers are becoming conscious of the health risks and attempting to manufacture lower radiation models. A Google search can help you identify one the next time you are in the market for a cell phone.
