25 Ingredients in McDonald’s Chicken McNuggets

-Baking powder and sodium aluminum phosphate—Both ingredients contain aluminum, a metal that University of Toronto researchers linked to Alzheimer’s disease incidence. Sodium aluminum phosphate is a food additive that is used for leavening.

-Cooked in vegetable oil (a blend of canola, corn, soybean, and hydrogenated soybean oils) with added TBHQ, citric acid and dimethylpolysiloxane.

-Modified hydrogenated soybean oil—This oil has been chemically-altered to be more “stable” but has been linked to heart disease.

-Vegetable oil for frying, which is a blend of 7 ingredients, including:  canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), citric acid, and dimethylpolysiloxane.

-Canola, corn and soybean oils are derived from three of the most widely genetically-modified crops on the planet.  These oils are typically heated to high temperatures during extraction and manufacturing, causing the oils to be inflammatory and harmful to the body.

-TBHQ is a petroleum-based, butane-like (yes, that’s lighter fluid!) ingredient used as a preservative.  It has been linked to asthma, skin conditions, hormone disruption, and in long-term animal studies to cancer and damage to DNA.  It is disturbing to me that this ingredient is allowed in food.

-Dimethylpolysiloxane– used as an anti-foaming agent, this industrial chemical is typically used in caulking and sealants and comes with a list of safety concerns.  It’s best reserved for industrial sealants than for food.

McDonald’s can keep its industrial chemicals, toxic oils, and genetically-modified ingredients. I think I’ll pass on the nuggets. Be sure to check out my article Shocking Ingredients in McDonald’s French Fries.

Here is the problem: the article just mis-presents one big brand McDonalds. The "chemicals" which are inside of a nugget, is pretty much in ALL processed food - yes also the chicken nuggets out of the freezer isle of your local supermarket.

I don't say here, that you should eat at McD, or that it is healthy. But the article [like many around] just is total bull. I am carefully about MSG - but hell - Mono Sodium Glutamate is a natural substance in the most delicious [and natural] things, like tomatoes, like parmesan cheese, like mushrooms! It is isolated - but not at all different in a chicken mcnuggets! The problem is here, that you should be reasonable... If you eat potato chips, McD food, and I don't know what processed food, you just might eat 1.5 or 2 times more MSG as in a normal diet. But even though - studies suggest, that there are NO health issues at all, even if you consume a much higher dose than it is actually possible. Lab rats which were fed MSG in high doses had no differences than the control group - only when it was injected (!!!) in them, they tend to become more obese and had further health issues. Well - I don't think, that there are many people, who take their chicken nuggets intravenous!

But the biggest problem here is, that the brand McD is just mis-presented! Check out the ingredients of Chick-a-fil sandwiches - one brand, which is the darling of quick serve restaurants. The publicly available ingredient list shows the same ingredients [chemicals

Kathy, it can be messy. I'm sure the grandkids would love to help you make them. Cut up chicken. have three plates ready- flour, egg, beaten with salt and pepper and breadcrumbs.Coat meat in each. Fry or bake. It really doesn't take long.
