Cotton fabric is common in many of our lives, occurring in everything from T-shirts to towels. Unfortunately, conventional cotton is also a notoriously “dirty” crop; even though only 2.5% of the world’s cultivated land is cotton, it accounts for 10% of the world’s pesticide use, plus a whopping 16% of insecticide use.
But what can you use instead? Well, some clothing manufacturers are attempting to find a substitute for cotton that is just as effective but much more sustainable. Check out this infographic (by Roozt and Column Five Media) to learn about some of the contenders!
