4 Super Summer Smoothies and Juices

Take down the heat with these refreshing smoothies and juices from my books The 4-Week Ultimate Body Detox Plan and 60 Seconds to Slim.  Summer is the perfect time to get more fruit into your diet.  And thanks to their vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients, they’ll also be a huge boost to your health.  Here’s to your health!  Cheers!

Cran-Berry Melon Super Juice

This fruit combination is so delicious you might not realize that it’s actually a super health cocktail as well. Compounds in the cranberries line the cells of the urinary tract to eliminate harmful bacteria. Blueberries contain anti-inflammatory nutrients that are ten times stronger than aspirin without the harmful side-effects. Watermelon is one of the few foods that boost the phytonutrient glutathione, which helps neutralize many toxins in the body.

2 large slices of watermelon (seedless)
½ cup blueberries
½ cup cranberries (fresh or frozen)

Juice or blend all ingredients (blend if using frozen cranberries). Serve over ice.

Bobbi’s Strawberry Daquiri

My sister, Bobbi Meyer, at Sweet Greens Café in Hagersville, Ontario (opening this summer!) shared this refreshing and oh-so-tasty recipe with me. You’ll love knowing that this amazing drink is also helping your body to heal. Only eight strawberries contain more vitamin C than an orange and help your body to prevent or fight heart disease, arthritis, memory loss, wrinkling, or cancer.

1 orange, juiced
1 cup frozen strawberries
½ lime, juiced

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Drink immediately. Alternatively, peel one orange and half a lime and blend in a blender with the frozen strawberries.
