Today we highlight some pint-sized pooches who are small in size, yet are working bone-a-fide jobs worthy of any big dog. While these mini mutts may not be large enough to be a commando dog on the Navy Seals Special Ops team or even strong enough to pull a sled, they’re still out there every day, gettin’ ‘er done!
Check out some of our favorite working pooches from around the interwebs!
1. Lucy, the Smallest Working Dog in the World! — above
Lucy, a two-and-a-half pound Yorkshire Terrier, works as a therapy dog visiting hospitals, nursing homes, and centers for troubled youth and children with disabilities through the Leashes of Love program. She is so small that she also hold the current world record for smallest working dog in the Guinness Book of World Records.
2. Mochi the Crime Fighting/Sniffing Poodle
Mochi is a four-year-old toy poodle who has taken a bite out of crime in Japan. Getting her start as a therapy dog, Mochi found herself wanting more and enlisted herself in six months of intensive police dog training programs. Mochi now has the important job of sniffing out trouble, including drugs, explosives, and any other odors that may need detection.
3. Detective Midge
Midge is a rat terrier/chihuahua mix who works as a certified narcotics-sniffing dog in the state of Ohio. Her tiny size certainly allows her to be particularly stealthy, as well as completely under the radar (and underfoot?) in any drug raids!

4. Nancy the Sheep-Herding Chihuahua
Step aside, all you Aussies and Cattle Dogs! Check out Nancy, a two-and-a-half pound chihuahua, with an amazing talent for herding sheep! Check her out in action above.
5. Miniature Pinscher Cat Transport Service Manager
This last one isn’t exactly an official dog-job, per se, but more of a unique service offering that you just don’t see most dogs offering these days. We commend this Min Pin for his entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help out his fellow cat. Enjoy!
