I've seen a lot more useless gadgets than these, but this list was quite entertaining. Thanks for the chuckle.

marketing...

As someone who sees mayo itself as unnecessary, a fit to the jar scraper is a hilarious thought.

I can sort of see the lettuce knife, but I wonder is having a ceramic knife, if you like them, would fit the same "non browning" need and be useful in other ways.

The banana slicer makes slices too big for dehydrating, which is the only reason I have for needing many slices of identical thickness. And I'd want it in metal or non plastic, anyway.

This is the result of the power of marketing. If we look at things coldly, we will see that in our home there are many useless things.

And just think of all the jobs manufacturing these worthless things created! And all the natural resources, time, and mind numbing, soul sucking human energy they used. Energy that could have been used for inventing something really useful.Or even doing mundane pursuits like home making, growing food, care taking of children, elderly, and pets or farm animals. You know, all those things that actually benefit the individual and their communities. Always remember, it takes a lot more money to create jobs than it does to keep money in circulation by giving it directly to the people. When there is needed real work to be done, there will always be people willing to step up and do them for the extra money they'll earn, and just for the inate 'rightness' of it.

Madeleine, anything will sell, provided there's a good marketing strategy. LOL!

Lisa, they'll soon invent a banana straightener too!
