My best diet consisted in saving money and eating hardly anything at all for three weeks. I was on a Portuguese language course in Portugal, wanted to buy as many Portuguese books as possible and, as I was spending most of my money on books, I hardly had any left for food and I lost seven kilos in three weeks. :-)

I already use the small plate idea. I really like the, having an apple before meals, gives more fiber, than a glass of water. I never thought about having alot of varieties, that would make us eat more; but I quess it would, wouldn't want to upset the cook so I'll have to remember that one. lol

We all know that losing weight only happens if you combine eating less with a good regimen of keeping your body in shape and excercising enough to make you breathe faster. In other words, get fit, dammit!

Good tips, but what if I'm already following the no extra sugars, and I've cut out much of the junk such as chips, candy, chips, etc... And not only am I serving a salad before supper, it's a good sized salad. The meals I serve are also not too big, and there is a hot vegetable with that also. Yet none of us are losing weight. We've also started a walk regimen, also.

As for the sugar free gum having calories, is that by swallowing or just chewing on it?
