6 Health Benefits of Having Pets

  • 2 of 6

2. Pets Reduce Stress
This one is kind of a no-brainer: a survey by Mindlab International found that 55 percent of people were more relaxed after spending time with their pets–44 percent were also less worried about specific problems such as job security and finance. Dr David Lewis, a psychologist at Mindlab said that “Interacting with a dog is a profound and effective stress reducer. It increases feelings of contentment and relaxation.”

One quarter of respondents described their dog as their best friend while one in six women said they confided their deepest thoughts only in their pets–and walking the dog was also found to be a more effective means of spending quality time with the family than even mealtimes or holidays.

Before you find out what unconditional pet's love is, you can't really feel alive ( that's my opinion, of course!).
It's really, really great, satisfying and it gives you such an indescribable pleasure! No question about it!
Sometimes you can receive more love and understanding from a pet than a human being ...
And they give you such a solace and comfort. They help us to restore ourselves
Thank you for this article!

Great article. My dog keeps me sane & gives unconditional love. As a Registered Nurse, I see many patients pine for their pets-it's heartbreaking. Where ever appropriate the animal is bought in (or snuck it!) for a visit. The joy & happiness between pet & human never fails to bring me to tears :)

I totally agree with this! Even when I don't feel well at all, I will go outside for my precious Bambi for him to go potty, and I end up spending time walking with him.

Very cool. I love my cockatiels but my favourite part of the day is cuddling with my cat. I love walking dogs, too. :)
