Six Humanitarian Gifts that Give a Gift

Giving a membership to a nonprofit organization that does
hands-on work to protect wildlife, or promote a humanitarian effort, is what I call giving a gift
that gives a gift. Not only do you enrich the life of the person
to whom you give the gift, but you help organizations that are
trying to make a difference.

An example of such a gift is giving
a guardianship gift of a chimpanzee with the Jane Goodall Institute.
A wonderful gift for anyone, particularly a child, the gift helps you aid and get to know one special chimp. Here are
more ideas:

1. Give a BlueVoice.org Gift of Dolphin Protection

BlueVoice.org fights to end brutal dolphin slaughters in Japan.
Over the next five months Japanese fishermen will kill
more than one-thousand dolphins, pilot whales and other
cetaceans. BlueVoice.org is fighting to end this killing - and they are
winning. The lives of thousands of dolphins are at stake.

The BlueVoice video team works on the ground in
Futo and Taiji documenting these atrocities. Their video
exposés have raised an international outcry and led to regulations
restricting the hunt. This year they launched a spectacularly successful
whale/dolphin watching program in Futo to replace the dolphin
killing.

Take action: Do it now. Dolphins are dieing every day.

2. Give a Gift to Save The Children

Today, HIV/AIDS rivals poverty and war as a threat to the lives of millions of children in the developing world. The HIV/AIDS epidemic today is at least 50 percent worse than experts predicted just a decade ago. The death toll since the epidemic began in the early 1980s has reached 22 million, including at least 4.3 million children. More than 36 million people worldwide are now living with the disease and every month an additional 440,000 people become infected. Approximately 95 percent of AIDS cases are in the developing world.

Of particular concern is the exponential rise in the number of orphans and children left vulnerable in the destructive wake of AIDS. In 2000 alone, 2.3 million children - one every 14 seconds - became orphaned by AIDS-related deaths of their parents. The number of children orphaned by AIDS, presently more than 10 million with the majority in sub-Saharan Africa, is expected to exceed 40 million by the year 2010.
Children who lose their parents and are taken in by relatives often must forfeit their education and work to help support their extended family.

Many are less fortunate and are left without families, discriminated against and forced to fend for themselves. Traumatized by the loss and dislocation, they face a future without access to basic health, education and social services. These orphans are at serious risk for exploitation and abuse, which leaves them especially vulnerable to HIV infection.
Donate now. Your gift will support Save the Children programs that help communities at the grassroots level care for orphans and others living with HIV/AIDS.
Save The Children.

3. Give a Sponsorship of a Hungry Child

One in five children in the world will not see their fifth birthday.
Millions of these children have little or no access to schooling
or healthcare. For just a few dollars each month, you can
help broaden the horizons of children in need through a unique
program called “Save the Children.” Your sponsorship can help
a child eat a warm dinner, see a doctor, or even graduate from
school. Give a child hope and make a difference that lasts!

4. Give a Gift of Wilderness - The Wilderness Society

Since 1935, The Wilderness Society has been in the forefront of the fight to protect
and preserve public lands. Whether you join us as a member of The Wilderness
Society, make a special contribution, or bequest, you will know that you are making
the best wilderness investment your money can buy! As a member of The Wilderness
Society, you will be adding your voice to a chorus of advocates for wilderness. When you make a special gift you support our research, our regional work, our communications and our wilderness campaigns. Please, join us today! The Wilderness Society

5. Give a Jane Goodall Institute Guardianship of a Chimpanzee

Chimpanzees in the wild are on the brink of extinction. Sanctuaries are under tremendous financial strain as they do their best to house and feed all the animals that need their care. Funds are needed to sustain the work that Jane began at Gombe more than four decades ago, and to ensure that the chimpanzees of gombe continue to thrive.

As a Chimpanzee Guardian you - or the gift recipient - will receive a biography of your chimpanzee, a chimpanzee poster, a certificate of guardianship, and information about Gombe Stream Research Centre, the Sanctuary Program and the Jane Goodall Institute. Read here about chimps you can help, such as Golden and Glitter, Cindy, and Uruhara.
Jane Goodall Institute.

6. “Adopt” A Wild Animal
Adopt a wolf, sea otter, polar bear, big cat, snowy owl, dolphin, whale, or
bear with Care2 and Defenders of Wildlife. Each adoption helps protect the
animal in the wild and comes with a little plush animal and adoption
certificate that tells you all about the animal.

Btw, it is because of Mrs. Glaser's fight for children in the first place that we as a non profit exsist.

She showed us that normal, hard working individuals can make a difference if they work hard enough and just believe within themselves.

All is possible; to find out more about the foundations amazing, global research and what is being done for children everywhere, check out their site at:

Thank you!

One very important organization/charity that started working for the children is the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation If it were not for Mrs. Glaser, children with HIV/AIDS would have continued to go uncared for in regards to this tragic disease that was thought at one time to strictly be a adult, gay problem.
