7 Healthy Vegan Snacks That Are All About Autumn

Fall is all about comfort foods and pumpkin spiced everything. The chill in the air makes us want to curl up with a warm treat after a walk through the bright and colorful foliage, but that does not mean we must feel guilty about eating tons of sweets throughout the season. In fact, we can quite literally have our cake and eat it, too, with a few healthy tweaks to the recipe.

With the following treats in our kitchen rotation, we can enjoy all the sweet and spicy flavors of fall without adding tons of sugar to our diet. Many of the following recipes use the sweetness of fruit or other natural sweeteners to please the palate, and all can be made at home in a jiffyó and are completely cruelty-free!

7 Healthy Vegan Snacks That Are All About Autumn

Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte

The holy grail of autumn specialties, the PSL, has become a popular favorite over the years. Sadly, Starbucksí latte is not vegan. Fear not, basic beverage-lovers, for you can recreate the magic of the PSL at home, using just a few simple ingredients. And, when you pick the sweetener and how much of it you include, you get to control whether the drink is a healthy alternative to your morning cup of joe or a syrupy dessert. No judgment!

Cinnamon Orange Nutty Granola

The combined aromas of cinnamon and orange are a soothing reminder that chilly, festive days are here. This recipe includes an abundance of nutrient-packed nuts, including almonds, pecans, walnuts and macadamia nuts. Cinnamon, nutmeg and orange zest make this granola pop, making it the perfect breakfast or after-dinner treat.

Pecan Pie Smoothie

Smoothies may not be warm treats, but they can become creative masterpieces for our taste buds when made to mimic our favorite, calorie-rich desserts. This pecan pie smoothie is a healthier alternative to a slice of the real thing, with just as much flavor and spice. Sweetened with bananas and dates, it will also save you from a post-sugar-rush crash.

Pumpkin Oat Cookies

These super simple nibbles involve minimal ingredients and labor and produce the tastiest little morsels packed with autumnal flavor. The sugar can be swapped out for a more natural sweetener, such as agave syrup, coconut nectar or maple syrup.

Gluten Free Cinnamon Apple Cake

Say bye-bye to eggs, dairy and wheat with this healthy apple cake recipe. The moist and delicious dessert is sweetened with fresh apples, rice syrup and stevia. Fresh apple slices on top and warming cinnamon throughout make it so your guests will never never know how much healthier it is than store-bought.

Autumn Brittle

Sweet and sticky brittle is a treat for the holiday season, and one that is easy to make at home. This recipe is easily veganized by using dairy-free butter and subbing brown rice syrup for honey. The addition of dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds, almonds and cashews makes up for the higher sugar content (at least thatís what Iíll be telling myself).

Cinnamon Caramel Apple Bites

Perhaps the simplest recipe on the entire list, these bite-sized morsels are the perfect balance of sweet and tart. And they only require three ingredients! Throw these together to pack in kidsí lunches, for a healthy mid-afternoon snack, or to serve at your next family gathering.

Anyway, the recipes are totally useless to the non-Americans. Since you pretend this network to be international you should also give the measurements in metrics. Beyond Trumpland there is the world. Very arrogant not to put metric measurements as well, very arrogant indeed.

Isn't this an old article? Always nice to see it anyway. Thanks. Probably Trump will outlaw veganism.
