Many people owe their lives to the tender protection and brave acts of other animals. Here’s just a small look at the stories of eight remarkable animals that have saved people’s lives.
JoAnn Altsman had a heart attack and collapsed to the ground. Lulu, her daughter’s pot-bellied pig, rushed out of the house, lying down in the street to stop traffic. The pig tried relentlessly to get help, returning to the house to check on JoAnn, only to rush back to the street desperate for help. Finally, one person stopped and followed the determined pig back to the house, where they found JoAnn in pain on the floor. She was immediately rushed to a hospital.

Amazing stories but just look at all the awful things humans do to animals!
Thanks so much for the inspiring article!
I want to know what it means when the article says that the elephant "took Amber on its back." It's a potentially interesting story, but not enough info... did the elephant run up and wrap his/her trunk around the child and throw her over his/her shoulder? Was the girl already riding the elephant? Grrrr....
I once had a pig that saved my daughters life when she fell in the yard next to a rattlesnake, the pig grabbed the rattler and bit its head off. Then one day I was working in the smokehouse, and it caught on fire. The pig saved me by dragging me out by my pants. So we decided then that weren't going to eat him all at once since he was so special, so now he still has 2 legs left.

To think animals were put here for the sole purpose of being sentenced to our lunch plates is the most ignorant devastating thought that has ever been invented by mankind.
I think #2 is my favorite. This is why we need to make sure the animals we get our food from are treated humanely.
This just goes to show that love, loyalty, understanding and compassion are not just human traits...indeed, I know many humans who possess none of these qualities.
Kudos to our animal friends...we are so lucky to have them!!
Very inspiring article. I'd like to see such stories posted large at malls and other community places to remind people of how lucky we are to have animals who care about us.
Please don't forget Cher Ami. People always put down pigeons but this brave bird flew through artillary and even though wounded, carried a message that saved the lives of 200 American men on October 4, 1918 during WW1!!!
Amazing, thank you!
