Anti-Cancer Shopping List

We hear a lot of advice on what to do to avoid cancer–and with around 1,444,920 new cases of cancer a year, according to the American Cancer Society–it’s no wonder why. One of the easiest and most effective ways to promote good health and to help protect against cancer is with your diet. In fact, The American Cancer society estimates that one third of all cancer deaths might be diet-related.That means watch out for junk food, and embrace healthful food. The foods on this list, prepared by the Cancer Cure Foundation, have the ability to help stave off cancer and some can even help inhibit cancer cell growth or reduce tumor size. The list is not complete–there are other anti-cancer edibles–but this features the all-stars and is an excellent starting point. Click through to the last page for a printable quick-list.

Actually, women with estrogen sensitive breast cancer are now told to avoid all soy, not just the pills.

Ah Jerry, What a comfy little bubble you must live in.

Jesse,Cancer cannot happen in a healthy person. If you are healthy you will not get a disease.Your body is fully capable to handle any potential disease including cancer. When your immune system is compromised by toxins, lack of proper nutrition and other factors, that is when disease can take over. A person is not unhealthy because they have a disease, they have a disease Because they are unhealthy. Restore your health and your disease will go away.

do you really think that eating all those fruit and vefgetables will help prevent cancer? i think the disease can happen to all of us no matter what food we eat. though a certain diet is helpful, of course.

Regarding my previous commentary about avoiding GMO foods for the "anti-cancer" shopping list, please allow me to pass on this link that offers an informative, hand, and FREE "Pocket Shopper's Guide To Avoiding GE Foods", put out by THE TRUE FOOD NETWORK--- just click on the Pocket Shopper's Guide image at the link posted below. Hope this helps!

I believe the answer to your query is in the quantity. A large does is needed for toxicity. Low levels, as those found in the plant and/or food, are not toxic unless taken over a very long period of time (years) such as use of cassava roots as a primary food source (as in areas of Africa).

Garlic is also a mild poison. It is very dangerous for house pets. It is lethal to fleas and many other insects. Humans, however, have a mild tolerance for garlic, as well as small and sporadic amounts of cyanide as found in foods we eat.

To fully insure that you are doing your best to ingest anti-cancer foods, please stay away from all genetically modified organisms (GMO's), which have NOT been sufficiently safety-tested and pose far too many health risks, including cancer and UNKNOWN (DNA) gene mutations in humans and other living things. This alone should send shivers up your spine. If you decide to try the foods listed here as "anti-cancer", then purchase foods labeled "certified organic". For now, that's probably the best you can do. Some grocery chains, like WHOLE FOODS, don't purchase any GMO foods; you can choose to shop at those stores and support their stand. If you can't do that, then you can check the food labels before deciding to buy your food, no matter where you shop; here's how: DO NOT purchase or ingest foods labeled with a 5 digit number prefaced by the number 8, which indicates a GMO. For an easy to understand film about the not-so-nice side of GMO foods, watch THE FUTURE OF FOOD. I also found the following website helpful, regarding shopping for non-GMO foods:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2007/09/18/the-gmo-food-guide.aspx

It's alarming to know that out of 10 foods randomly selected at your local grocery store, more than 7 of those are likely to be genetically modified! Soy (and corn) products are at the top of the list, so be careful out there when shopping for your "anti-cancer" soy foods listed in this Care2 article.
Thanks... and healthy eating to all.
