Apple-Kale Smoothie

Kale (yes, KALE!) makes a sneak appearance in this fresh fruit smoothie. Use whatever proportions of fruit (and greens) you like. If you’re new to green smoothies, Care2 blogger Becky Striepe recommends taking it slowly with the kale — about one leaf to start. If you like how that tastes, try gradually increasing the greens to make a more even veggie to fruit ratio.

Ingredients

Orange juice
Fresh ginger
Apple chunks
Kale

Instructions

1. Place all ingredients in a blender. Process until smooth and thick.

I have to have my deep, dark greens everyday and use spinach in my smoothies. I love Kale but for me I need to boil it in small amount of water, add some of my 4 peppercorn & pickling spice mix and a little vinegar. It's digestion issue for the liver. I drink any juice or water leftover.

Goodness in a glass. It took me a while - the drink was SO THICK in the beginning but have kinda got it right now. I can feel it doing me good (I guess).
