Stairs with Storage

The under-utilized space beneath the stairs presents an opportunity for creating thinking. This staircase, by the duo behind Treviso, Italy–based MN*LS creative consultancy, is one of the more interesting solutions we’ve seen. Designed to fit into an existing living room, the structure is made of laminated marine plywood, with steps of solid beech wood reclaimed from a local woodmill.

Take a look at another set of really cool stairs in Remodelista’s post, Architectural Detail: Butcher Block Stairs by Casper Mork-Ulnes.

Depending on what you are putting under those stairs, it may look gaudy. If so, think of some form of covering over the visibility of what you have stored there.
