Aromatherapy for Meditation

Sometimes it is just not easy to quiet the mind and sink into a deep meditation. To the rescue, an aromatherapy blend with essential oils. Try diffusing some of this beautiful Meditation Aromatherapy Blend on those difficult days.
The blend of seven essential oils includes frankincense and myrrh, which have been used throughout time for spiritual transcendence. Rose is known to unite physical and spiritual love, and sandalwood to instill inner quiet.
INGREDIENTS
4 drops myrrh essential oil
5 drops sandalwood essential oil
10 drops frankincense essential oil
2 drops clove essential oil
2 drops cistus essential oil
5 drops clary sage essential oil
2 drops rose essential oil
Combine the oils in a small dark glass bottle and shake well.
To use: Add to a diffuser and use to support and enhance meditation.
A note about diffusers: Diffusers disperse essential oils into the environment via an air jet pump connected to a glass bell. A modern aromatic diffuser is a natural alternative to aerosol deodorizers and chemical air fresheners. A diffuser is a safe and convenient method of dispersing essential oils throughout a home, school or workplace. Note that candle burners and lightbulb rings can overheat delicate essential oils, changing their chemical makeup.

add your comment »Petitgrain is a great citrus scented essential oil, with similar properties as neroli. Neroli is very expensive! I personally love Ylang Ylang or Lavender for sleep and decreasing stress. They are both safe, even for children. Sweet Marjoram is a great one for insomnia: Dilute with a carrier oil and rub on your feet, and drift off like a baby! Hope this helps.

Petitgrain is a great citrus scented oil, it is distilled from the leaf/twigs, so it has a woody base. Neroli is very expensive! I personally love Ylang Ylang for anxiety, and it is a very safe oil, even for children. Tried and true, Lavender is wonderful for getting to sleep. Sweet Marjoram in a carrier oil base rubbed on your feet before bed does wonders for some people as well! Hope this helps.

finest, purest essential oils. made and checked by Dana Clay Young soils and plant checked during distillation. nothing added to the bottle as a "filler" With the purity of these oils, I use just Frankincense! or sometimes mix in sandalwood. It is awesome and relaxing for my meditation. I urge you to check them out. Best oils I have found.

Myrhh makes me throw up so I would leave that one out for me personally! I would never use neat blends as you never know how sensitive the user might be to essential oils (which can be very strong) I always use a jojoba base and add oils to that.

Cistus Essential Oil (Labdanum Essential Oil or Rock Rose Essential Oil) - Cistus ladanifer (Family, Cisgaceae) - Spain - An excellent fixative in perfumery, used in some expensive brands. Helpful in meditation and counseling - has calming, stress reducing and mood uplifting properties. Cistus is a good choice as an addition to a lymph drainage massage blend, and, in a warm compress, is said to be an effective treatment for swollen lymph glands. / Source: resin / Production method: steam distillation / Aromatherapy class: stimulating, toning, soothing / Traditional use: aroma fixative, skin conditioner / Blends well with: bergamot, clary sage, cypress, juniper berry, lavender, olibanum, patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver.
Is there something else that would have the same effect? I can't find Cistus locally.

Dorin, would you replace the clary sage with Lavender? I like to make natural products for myself and share with my family and am somewhat new to mixing EO. You seem very knowledgable, so I would also be interested in your recipe.
Thanks

2 drops cistus essential oil? I think they meant citrus EO here. With Clary Sage you need to be careful also with pregnant women. I wouold change this base mixture to add lavender and for the citrus use Neroli. This is my personal choice as an aromatherapist. I have had 100% results with a similar recipe for my practice.( I also use jojoba oil as base/carrier or distilled H2O for difusers.
Happy Smells y'all,
Dorin :D
