It's serendipitous that today is 'National Rainier Cherry Day' because the cherry has recently garnered a cult following for its promising health benefits. A recent study conducted by the University of Texas Health Science Center found that cherries contain significant amounts of melatonin, a hormone that's credited with slowing down the aging process as well as fighting insomnia, depression and other disorders. So today, why not get your cherry on? Your body will be happy (and healthier!) that you did.
