Most of us hold tension in our bodies from past events. What you may not know is that the area or chakra where that tension is held can give us some very important information.
Chakras are energy centers in the body that have been studied for thousands of years, often for their esoteric significance. But this short meditation shows us that they also have a very practical, everyday use. They show us through our body what we have been experiencing in our consciousness.
Find out what the tension in your chakras can show you:
Imagine a situation about which you feel or have felt some tension. As you think of the situation and feel whatever you feel about it, notice where in your body you feel the tension. If you were to draw a circle around that part of the body, how large would the circle be?
If you were to imagine a particular color within the circle, what color would you imagine?
If you were to describe the physical sensations you experience within the circle, what words would you use? (You can describe the tension as resistance to the flow of energy, a place where you have been resisting the flow of energy through your energy system.)
If you have been resisting the flow of energy, you can also remove the resistance, consciously relaxing the place you have been holding tense. As you do this more and more, you can feel that part of your body relaxing again, opening more and more to the flow of energy, until you again experience yourself being clear and comfortable, a clear channel for the flow of energy once more.
Where you felt the tension depended on why you felt the tension.
If the resistance was experienced at the level of the perineum, between your anus and your sex organs, it was because of tension in your consciousness concerned with security, survival, and trust. For most people, this represents their relationship with money, home, and job.
If the resistance was felt at the level of the abdomen, the tension had something to do with perceptions concerning food or sex.
If it was felt at the level of the solar plexus, it had to do with perceptions concerning power, control, and your freedom to be yourself.
If it was felt at the level of the heart, the tension had something to do with your perceptions of love, and the area of relationships in your life.
If it was felt at the level of the throat, the tension was there because of something that you wanted to express but didnít.
If you felt the tension in your forehead, it was because of feeling that you were not being seen for who you are, but rather the role you were in.
If you felt the tension at the top of your head, it was because of feeling separate when you wanted to feel connected, or feeling connected when you wanted to feel separate, or a problem with authority.
