On July 1, California will ban foie gras, created by the funnel-forced ingestion of large amounts of feed into a goose or duck’s esophagus. Eventually the liver grows to more than 10 times its normal size.

I will miss foie gras, but i totally understand and support the cause.
sorry for all the posts..it took a half hour for them to show up..I guess I should go have a cup of tea before checking...lol
@Philip I. I can't believe you're going to stand behind this industry! I do eat humanely raised meat, but foie gras falls seriously short of this! Just because something has been going on for eons doesn't mean we should accept it. Only a very cold hearted person could look at this and think nothing's wrong so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and suggest you haven't been made aware of the atrocities that go on at the "fois gras farms". Here are a couple of examples...

@Philip I....I can't believe you're really going to stand behind the torture of these precious animals!! First of all, I do eat humanely raised meat and after watching a video of how foie gras is developed I could NEVER support that industry..I don't understand how YOU think this is just fine!! Did you watch the video that was shown?! Only a very cold hearted person would carry on eating foie gras with the belief that all is well in that industry...and it's not JUST foie gras. Many people (including myself) are going to great lengths to stop cruelty to animals EVERYWHERE! Just because this has been going on for eons doesn't mean it should be accepted..In case you're not aware of the cruelty here's a couple of visuals for you.
