Cat On A Leash?

The New York Times recently ran the letter below in their Metropolitan Dear Diary Section. As someone who is owned by three cats and understands them as well as any human can, the letter made me laugh.

Dear Diary:

Starting my walk home the balmy afternoon of Aug. 14 on West 85th Street, I spied a man with a cat on a leash.

Just the idea was funny enough for me, but the man was slumped against the wall, clearly exhausted, while the cat sat nearby, calmly washing her face.

I guess the cat won!

True yesterday, true today and most certainly true tomorrow: trying to walk a cat on a leash is almost NEVER a winning proposition.

Some cats like to go for walks.

I tried it years ago, my cat lay down and refused to budge. My cats just follow me, on their own, and if I call them.

Cat in a leas? Kind of cute, but I guess cats would have to learn this at he beguining of their lives. Thanks

You are more likely to find the cat walking the owner!!

I couldn't agree more! I imagine this is similar to trying to walk a lion in the park! lol
