Cats Love Catnip (3 videos)

  • 1 of 3

We humans have alcohol and marijuana. Cats have catnip. Different “drug,” similar chemical effect.

The first video explains why cats get high; the second asks if catnip has the same effect on big cats, and the third video is a funny little piece with a talking cat on a catnip high.

How Catnip Gets Cats High

This video opens with a group of cats irresistibly drawn to a planting of catnip where the aromatic oils give them an addictive high, causing them to roll around and even chase imaginary mice.

About three quarters of all cats are so affected, showing how natural chemicals influence animal behavior.

The video on page 2 from Big Cat Rescue answers the question: do tigers like catnip? Bet you can guess the answer….

Loved the video on the big cats. I've had cats that loved catnip but the one I have now pees in it then walks away!

Our two kitties enjoy playing with their catnip mice, it is really cute how much they love it!

The cats in the first video really enjoying themselves. But it concerns me... Can TOO much catnip be a bad thing? Can they O.D. on it? Just worrying about that. Thx.

I found this video clip most distressing, in the same way as I would at seeing someone I loved totally intoxicated. The fact that the ginger was foaming at the mouth should raise queries as to whether large amounts are good for them. Incidently, cats do not liked to be laughed at.
