Child Prodigy’s Impromptu Piano Performance in Costco (video)

Costco is known for their free samples. But, the giant superstore couldn’t have planned a better free offering if they tried… A very talented 9-year-old pianist gave an impromptu performance for shoppers.

Personally, I don’t shop at Costco. I go into sensory overload in giant superstores and they don’t offer much that I purchase. But, impromptu performances in public places can quickly gather an entertained audience, and it sure would have been fun to be there when Jake Clayton played a very fun arrangement of the traditional Hungarian folk dance, Csárdás.

Jake was nine years old at the time of this performance. Check out his YouTube Channel. He’s now 10 and his playing has matured since his Costco debut. (It’s also easier to shape phrases when seated at the piano, rather than standing.) His musicality is well beyond his young years and I look forward to hearing more of him.

If you were a shopper when Jake performed, would you have stopped and listened? Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a comment below.

You can tell that he does this because he loves it, not because some show-business mama is forcing him to. Hopefully he'll have a wonderful future ahead. Great video!

Wonderful except for the rude women who felt the need to talk on and on, shame on them.

The boy is very talented and I am sure he knows he has and is a gift.
