Video of a baby at the Sedgwick County Zoo sharing a moment with a baby chimp is making people everywhere smile. The two share a moment looking at one another and playfully slapping the glass.

+ add your ownI agree with Diane L.--it did not look to me as if the baby chimp was having fun there. Also it makes me sad to see videos of the orangutan who played Clyde, particularly in this context. Information that emerged in later years indicated that he had a miserable existence. His trainers/owners beat him savagely on a regular basis and in fact beat him to death. We need to evolve our ideas about our fellow primates and not consider them entertainment.
thanx
aaawwwww
Perception, by our animal cousins, is something we, humans, don't completely comprehend.
This video is the topic of another Care.2 discussion and look again, folks! The grandmother here is exhibiting very irresponsible behavior and encouraging this infant to "tease" the chimp. That chimp is NOT trying to play.........he/she is very aggressive and is exhibiting what is known as "display" behavior to intimidate and dominate another "being".
Please watch again..........the chimp is BANGING the glass with the backs of the hands........NOT trying to "touch" with fingertips, and then kicks viciously with ONE foot at the glass. Those kicks are meant to injure. The chimp is 2 years old and approaching the age where he/she will try to establish his/her place in the chimp society.
Sorry, I don't find this "cute" at all. Thank GOD that glass was there or that would have been a severely injured little baby!
The way it ought to be! So very touching.
thanks
So cute!
Terrific!
If only that innocence and trust could be the natural way of our entire lives!
