Cleopatra’s Cleansing Secret Formula

We can’t go around with dirty skin, but many cleansers can cause dryness and premature aging. Instead, try this simple formula, used by the famous beauty Cleopatra to keep her skin not only clean but soft, youthful, and dewy. Milk products contain alpha-hydroxy acids that gently cleanse and soften skin.

This formula couldn’t be simpler. Here are the easy directions:

Ingredient: 1/4 cup milk, buttermilk, yogurt or sour cream

1. Use your fingertips to “wash” your face with your milk product of choice.

2. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

3. You can also add milk to your bath for an all-over skin softening experience. And when you’re traveling, take along a packet of powdered milk to use!

I have used these ever since I was an adolescent, so I am well familiar with their benefits. Yes, they ARE great and beat any commercially produced cleanser.

But I have the same question as Shirley V. (below): HOW on Earth did Cleopatra come into this story? Would you mind giving us the references? Pretty please? :)

I've been using powdered milk in my bath for years, I love the way my skin feels!

OH...I just realized my previous question might appear or seem negative. No, it wasn't meant to be a criticism.....I'm just curious. I LOVE all the recipes I've seen here and am going to try MANY of them. THANK YOU Care2 for SO much wonderful advice and home-made beauty recipes. My daughter and I share ours when one of us finds good ones....I've shared MANY of them from this site. Again THANKS much and keep up the great work to keep us beautiful AND safe.....and on a tight budget at that. I couldn't ask for more.

HOW on earth did anyone get Cleopatra's beauty recipes? Did she write it down someplace, keep a diary, carve hieroglyphics on a wall or what? I've seen this one and "Cleopatra's Milk Bath Formula" and I'm very curious to know. I do believe the milk bath properties though and am definetly going to use powdered milk in my bath often now, but that question is sort of burning my mind.

This sounds interesting...I'm gonna try this TODAY!
