I can imagine that the routine of getting fit would also help those with severe mental illness. I know for myself, my depression usually improves if I am able to stick to a general routine. Chaos of your life certainly influences your mind.

so important

Yes, exercise is very helpful for various illnesses of the mind.

I do not think that heating salt in an oil burner has done much for me - insomnia or lack of sleep as Andy K mentions adds a lot of problems to mental illness but heating the salt does not take away all of the symptoms at least in my case. Must be nice to live by the ocean, landlocked here, rivers and lakes abound but not a salty ocean.

Won't hurt to try but exercise when one has the energy to do it and often one does not - we are supposedly supposed to do it anyway as it exercise is supposed to help even when it is hard to even walk down the hallway. It does help energy levels if done consistently.

True, I see some people write Noted or some one word thingee in their comment and it sounds trite, never knew there was a Blog Master at Care2--would love them to do something about all of the spam and advertising dropped in the comment section as many people who do this do not even have an account here or go under the name of Past Member whatever that is!

Interesting article.
