Crystal Helper: Backyard Stones

By the Care2 Staff.

The beauty and variety of the crystal world has fascinated
humanity since the beginning of time. Find the crystal that holds
a secret for us today. Which one knows our answer?

English author Sue Phillips, author of Healing Stones, believes that healing stones can be found just there, where you are. Expensive crystals aren’t necessary for healing, she believes, nor does she recommend them because most are mined from the earth and it takes millions upon millions of years to renew them. Instead, Phillips urges us to look for stones nearby that have already been released from the earth, and don’t even need to be dug up or the earth disturbed in any way.

What stones are outside of your front door? Where are you drawn? Take a walk and open your heart to whatever stone draws your attention as you walk by. Some very powerful stones can be found this way – easily dismissed by most as “just a rock,” almost as if they are weeds in a garden. One place to check is under an uprooted tree, where the roots used to be. Another is on any path that is well worn by you – you may find the perfect stone that you have passed by dozens of times.

This is a wonderful thread. I collect stones everywhere I go. I study with a Cherokee Medicine Woman and she talks with stones as she speaks with me. She has shared with me that they prefer being called stones, rather than rocks.

Ah yes! If I had all the stones I'd collected over decades and lost in many moves, I could build a stone home. I do have my "Medicine Stone" I discovered through serendipity in June 1993, though. Through an additional 22 moves since, I've maintained and cherished it.

I always liked collecting rocks. But, they're awful hard to take along on a move.

I connect with animals and plants but not so much with rocks. Yes, some I think are pretty, but I don't feel any messages from them. Seriously, What sort of thing do they say?

My daughter showed me this thread while laughing with glee. "Mom, what about all those rocks you have? Other people are nuts too!" she all but squealed with delight!
It's true - I have stones, rocks, crystals, et al from all around the world. Some have jumped in to my path while others have been gifted. It's the gifted ones that make me smile - friends who lug rocks back from a trek in the desert and then actually ship 'em to me saying .. "I saw this cool rock and thought of you".
I'm releived to see others also gather rocks!
Mother Nature is my interior decorator - LOL

Stones and Crystals will choose or call out to you bringing with them a well of information to share with others if you learn to listen...
Quiet the mind through a deepened breath, center your energies and be still...
