A project for beachcombers: stones collected from the shore, strung together to form a simple gate clasp.
To make your own, drill holes through beach rocks with a small rotary tool, such as a Dremel. String and secure the rocks on mid-weight hemp twine.
To learn how to drill the holes, read a tutorial at The Common Milkweed.

Living next to the sea shore I appreciate stones on the beach, but I also love shells, (when we can find them), in my big glass jar in the window, driftwood in my yard, and sand dollars carefully placed in a basket next to the door for visiting friends or acquaintances to take home and enjoy, and to remember the ocean and its gifts. Never take more than you need, and always leave something better than you have found. My exchange with the beach is picking up endless garbage and 'shore'waste' from ships tossing things overboard.
LOVE IT
WOW! My mother used to make something like this years and years ago! Great idea.
It is illegal to take stones from the beach here.
Thanks, lots of beach buddies around here!
