DIY Clementine Hand Scrub

DIY Clementine Hand Scrub

Winter cometh, and with it dry, dull skin. Forget pricey scrubs and put that big crate of clementines to use with this hand scrub recipe from Erika Katz, “Today” Show contributor and author of Bonding over Beauty. The vitamin C in the clementine brightens and tones while their natural fruit acids help to gently lift dead skin cells. Sugar acts as a physical exfoliant, buffing away what’s left behind. Powerhouse humectants honey and olive oil provide much-needed moisture and nourishment.

1 T clementine juice
1 T honey
1 T sugar
1 T olive oil

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. “Wash” your hands with the scrub, paying special attention to dry patches and cuticles. It’s especially effective after a shower or bath, when the steam already softened dead skin cells. I also love Erika’s brown sugar body scrub, which is fantastic from head to toe or as a pre-pedi treatment.

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 T olive or almond oil
5 drops honey
3-5 drops of your favorite essential oil

Simply combine the following ingredients in a bowl or sealable glass jar and scrub away.

I would definitely enjoy the zesty scent of this. I hope I can apply this as body scrub. This would be perfect.

I've been using the brown sugar scrub for several years now and cannot go without it. I have used other oils in it before such as Argan oil, which was incredible. I have not used essential oils yet, but I have used herbs from my garden even dehydrated and powdered clementine skins.

Well, I won't say anything to my husband when he swears again. It does stress me out though.
