When winemakers Ted Osborne and Kim Wedlake opened a Napa tasting room for Olabisi Wines, the couple went for a simple recycled-rustic look. We especially admire their ingenious shelving made from reclaimed shipping pallets with jelly roll pans in lieu of drawers.
Above: Olabisi’s clever shelving system could be replicated for storage throughout the home.
Above: Pallets typically measure 48 inches wide and are 40 inches long. The best way to procure them is to approach a local business that uses them for shipping, or contact a recycling group such as Pallet Recycling.
Above: Commercial-grade Norpro Jelly Roll Pans measure 18 by 12 inches; available from Amazon for $21.99.
We’ve posted before on two other great ideas for repurposing reclaimed shipping pallets. See Remodelista’s posts DIY: Studiomama Pallet Chair and Slow Design: Katrin Arens Plate Rack.

Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Gail.
Very interesting. I hope I can see it but I´m afraid I won´t see it in my area in southe…
Being older is not a form of disease - you don't have to treat them like separate members of society…

+ add your ownlove this idea...tons of places around me looking to get rid of pallets.....gonna try this....I like how they sanded & stained the exposed areas too
Love everything recycled!
Great Idea!!!!!
Love the idea:o)
I have a shelf at home which I made from Leca blocks and planks I bought at a hardware store. What is great about it is the many options I was given. I have shaped it according to my needs and the other design elements in my flat making it more organic than most shelves around. Saved a ton of money as well:o)
I love it! I am going to do it.
Something to build on! Thanks
interesting idea
I like this idea :-) thanx
neat idea
Not sure this type of shelving would suit every home - and there's a safety issue to look at with young children.
