The one year-old lab was put in a crate with a blanket over it in the midst of other trash items for pickup. It had a broken leg from being hit by a car, and skin infections. Neither of the medical conditions had been treated. The dog reportedly had been injured for 30 days before it was found. Once in the control of authorities, the dog was treated with surgery which cost $3,000.
It was speculated that perhaps the previous owner was unable to pay for treatment. Still, the humane course of action is to take the animal to a shelter, not let it suffer for so long, and then have it possibly thrown in a garbage truck for crushing. Judy Sarullo, of Pet Rescue by Judy said, “Do something, and if you can’t do it, then at least have him put to sleep humanely rather than letting him suffer and then putting him in a crate and asking someone to dispose of it in garbage truck.” A local news station did a video piece on the situation. A criminal investigation is underway.
Orange County, Florida Animal Service has its own website, with animals for adoption, a forum, and their own YouTube channel. Last year they received about 25,000 animals to help.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, here is some very helpful adoption information.

I am glad that the dog was found but what a traume he had to go through. A sad reality!
I hope that all people will someday understand that other animals are not objects, but individuals like we are!
Great article. Thanks.
Absolutely horrible and unforgivable.
what is wrong with some people?
only someone with a heart of stone would do that to a living creature that needs help! hope they find that awful person, but this is something he has to live with the rest of hes life! he did something so morally and cruel to this poor dog......he will pay for that one day...sooner than later ...one way or another....
very sad
My goodness! Act human!! Animals treat others more humanely than some of us do. The owner should be filed with criminal charges.
jeez, what's wrong with some people?
