It appears that Lea Michele has found her pet cause.
The 24-year-old, who plays Rachel Berry on the hit television series “Glee,” has once again stepped in front of the cameras for PETA to protest horse-drawn carriage rides in New York City.
“Imagine for a moment that you’re forced to do hard physical labor all day, seven days a week—whether it’s sweltering hot or freezing cold outside,” the committed vegan says. “At the end of the day, instead of relaxing on [an] easy chair or sleeping in a comfortable bed, you are locked in a tiny closet all night long.”
Back in September ’09, Lea appeared in her first horse carriage campaign for PETA with the tagline “Buck Cruelty: Say No To Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides.” Late last year, she also guest-blogged on Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Life site on the topic.
“My biggest trouble these days are the poor horses in Central Park,” she wrote. “Living in New York City, I see them sadly standing on the sides of busy streets with their heads right in the ***** of the horse right in front of them! They walk in the rain, snow, and heat, pulling people all day long, rarely getting proper food, water or care.”

Thanks for the article.
props to her!
every one of these people aways run to PETA.
do horses care if their face is in the butt of another horse? they sniff Poo too.
I hope they start going after any and all equine uses. even the most pamperd riding horse of rich snob little girls
then again forcing a horse to run and jump is worse than child slavery
With you Glee, for the horses and all.
Thanks, Lea!
interesting..
so good to use her fame this way.... I'm soooooo sorry for all the horses doing carriage work, anywhere in the world. But it looks like the NYC ones have the toughest conditions-they're not city animals for f*** sake!!!!!! Well done Lea.
it's nice to know a young female actress is using her celebrity to support and help an important cause. i don't think most people have ever thought about the harm horses endure to pull carriages in cities and hopefully this will open their eyes.
Glee is great and I love horses
