Heart-Healthy Spiced Cranberry Cider

Whether you’re celebrating the holidays with friends, trimming the tree with your family, or curling up on a cold night with your favorite translation of the Yoga Sutra, this charming cider is the perfect winter treat. The tart cranberry and zesty lemon infuse the sweet apple with layers of flavor. And the cinnamon and cloves will infuse your kitchen with nourishing, heartwarming aromas.

In a large pot, combine 4 cups of apple cider, 2 2/3 cups of cranberry juice, 3 tablespoons of packed brown sugar, 2 cinnamon sticks, 12 whole cloves, and a whole lemon, thinly sliced. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. Strain, pour into 4 large mugs, and enjoy. (From allrecipes.com)

This was the easiest and best tasting cider I had.you can drink cider cold or hot, and it's healthy and all natural, so you don't have to feel guilty after drinking it.

To all of those who are railing about the sugar. look again at the ingredient list. Cranberry JUICE, not juice cocktail. Have you ever had pure, straight cranberry juice? It's very tart. You will need to sweeten it if it's to drinkable. I've never had cider that was sweet enough to handle cranberry juice by itself..
Use something instead of sugar. Sweeten it with anything you want - apple juice concentrate, orange juice concentrate, honey, agave syrup...whatever. Heck, even maple syrup might be good. But I wouldn't want to try this without a little something sweet.
The recipe only calls for three tablespoons, which works out to less than two teaspoons per serving, if you're serving four. But for almost seven cups of liquid, three tablespoons of sugar isn't that much.
Everyone's so serious. It's only cider. I say, throw in some brandy and now we're talking.
