My husband, Curtis, and I stopped in at our local cafe after a rather hectic day of work. When we turned around, Dave, the man we met yesterday from Habitat for Humanity, was just arriving. It seemed like the perfect opportunity for today’s gift: a cup of coffee or tea for Dave. He was happy to have the free drink and then joined Curtis and I to chat, which everyone seemed to enjoy. Plus, we learned about some great beaches, old growth forest, and restaurants in our area.
While there are endless possibilities for giving to others every day, I’ve tried to choose many that don’t cost much (if anything), encourage recycling and reusing of items we no longer need, or just acts of kindness that inspire others.
If you’re just joining us for the Kindness Revolution, I’m trying to spread kindness in the world by giving 29 gifts in 29 days, inspired by the book 29 Gifts. And, I’m asking you to join me. If you’re just tuning in, check out the first blog in this series. And, don’t forget that it’s never too late to join the Kindness Revolution. Start today!
And, don’t forget to add your comments to my blog because, with the help of the kind people at Care2.com, I’ll be giving away more free copies of my books on Saturday! Winners will be selected from the comments.

Me again, one more thing. Our office was changing coffee machines. From the pods to the cups. There were boxes of these things and I couldn't just toss them out. I found a Veterans association that took the pods and sent them to Iraq. The guys sent us their thanks. They boil water, drop the pods in and make coffee; or they break the pods open and prepare a pot. I never would have thought of that.
I can do this.
I don't usually eat fast food, but when the coupons come with buy one get one, I get them and give both away on my way to work, with a cup of coffee.
One day I was getting a hot dog meal (that was what he asked me if I could afford to purchase for him) for a homeless man in downtown D.C. and the vendor said, "why are you buying HIM food?" I asked him if he wanted to sell it or not, I could go elsewhere. So he begrudingly fixed it and bagged it. That was one time God rendered me speechless because I wanted to give him a piece of my mind! But I realized a closed mind like his would take more than a tongue lashing to open up to the needs of those around him.
