I truly believe that information is power. I recently learned that a First Nations (the Canadian version of native Americans) community in the Clayoquot Sound region of Vancouver Island wanted to know more about its residents’ health. So, I decided that my gift for today (and quite a few days leading up to today) would be to donate my health research and reporting. I specifically reviewed cancer risks, health and population statistics, and lifestyle factors among the people of the community so that the region can implement educational programs that address the specific health concerns facing its people. I was thrilled to see my skills serving such a worthwhile project.
Whatever your skills, experience, and talents, there is a community or organization that would be thrilled to have you donate them to its projects. Pick something that has meaning for you and don’t be afraid to make a few phone calls or ask around in your community first. Time is precious these days and many organizations couldn’t function without their volunteers.

+ add your ownI do bits and pieces - giving blood, helping with the home library service, acting as trustee for a local community centre, but am always looking for other stuff I can do when I've got time. I've just volunteered to read to people with dementia - I'm an actor so I've got a loud clear voice!
good ideas..thanks
This is great. Really got me thinking of my skills.
It is hard to find ways to donate you talents.
Also quite inspiring! Imagine if we all made it a goal to give of ourselves each & every day? What an impact!
What a noble revolution. Thank you.
Excellent idea, I volunteer 1-2 days a week as a Chaplain at the Childrens hospital.
Nothing makes me happier than when I volunteer my talents or donate money or items to a charity. It's the best thing in the world.
Thanks!
Coming back to this particular topic ...
My newest book 'Happy Mother Happy Family' just went to print - I'm still considering a couple of options for where I want some of the proceeds to go once it gets selling (will be available on mainland Europe 'very soon'; in the UK in early autumn; and in the Americas in time for Christmas). The more copies sold, the more proceeds to a good cause. ;) ;) ;)
