Consider the amount of pollution created to get your food from the farm to your table. Whenever possible, buy from local farmers or farmers’ markets, supporting your local economy and reducing the amount of greenhouse gas created when products are flown or trucked in. Thanks for the article.
Thanks.
I've been trying to buy local for most goods, including groceries, for years now. I would prefer to support the mom n pop shops in my community rather than the big box stores but sometimes it can be a bit cost prohibitive. Now though I have started checking out a daily deal site that filters to the local level and gathers all the best deals for me - www.koopik.com. Armed with my voucher I feel good about shopping locally and saving money :)
AMEN! I buy local food whenever possible. It is always fresher, tastes way better, and doesn't have to be shipped anywhere.
Local foods are good too..
