Adapted from The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, by Deepak Chopra (New World Library, 1994).

I will put The Law of Intention and Desire into effect by making a commitment to take the following steps:

1. I will make a list of all my desires. I will carry this list with me wherever I go. I will look at this list before I go into my silence and meditation. I will look at it before I go to sleep at night. I will look at it when I wake up in the morning.

2. I will release this list of my desires and surrender it to the womb of creation, trusting that when things don’t seem to go my way, there is a reason, and that the cosmic plan has designs for me much grander than even those that I have conceived.

3. I will remind myself to practice present-moment awareness in all my actions. I will refuse to allow obstacles to consume and dissipate the quality of my attention in the present moment. I will accept the present as it is, and manifest the future through my deepest, most cherished intentions and desires.

I love
deepak Chpra. i have read most of his books, and have his tapes, and also give them as gifts. however, i also have been homeless, living in motels for the last 2 years, due to unforeseeable circumstances. i'm having a hard time. but what he teaches absolutely works. you just have to keep it up .right now, i'm listening to gregg braden on the radio. peace and happy new year everyone.

I strive to not dwell on the past, or worry about the future. Only then can I deeply enjoy the present moment. I try and apply to be a better person and find the right dharma, yet, it is hard to be satisfied in such an over stimulated world. Good satisfing work experience is hard to find. My goal is to love the unknown. To embrace it and let my creative energies flow to others. Everything happens for a reason. Be aware of what is happening and look for coincedences.

Thank you for the guidance, keeping ourselves in constant remind is as important as breath.

Aho! Truth said--plain enough . . . including Carolyn's affirmation of our mutual need for mutual support. In keeping with this aim, asking others for their support--as much as they are able--to help us retain our focus on our personal goals, is also essential. Enlisting the aid of others' prayers, and praying in accord with others' highest aspirations helps us, each and all, achieve our personal and community goals.

My experience has matched Terra's in that i have allowed myself to become distracted by the "false essentials" that cloud our vision by presumption and crowd our lives through the "tyranny of the urgent"--even professional standards of protocol can dictate a "false essential" as can one's own proclivities and even strengths, when relied on too heavily.
Dr. Chopra's encouragement to set aside all expectation but that which is truly from the Divine by surrendering our list of desires (in step 2) and then (in Step 3) practicing present awareness of the Divine--The One Who Is All, and All our Relations--is a True Essential, and furthers the essence of our true goals.

Thank you, dear friend Deepak, for this excellent synopsis; this excerpt contains the most essential foundational truths for a happy and healthy life of fulfillment: focus of belief, unconditional trust and love of the Divine, and joyfully quiescent awareness. (Your timing in sharing this is also excellent!)

With Love and appreciation,
alan "Running Deer"

Terra says it so well! We need reminders, we need to assist one another along the path to remember how simple the journey can be if we are in allowance, with intention and living from our hearts.
In Joy,
Carolyn

Thank you so much for this reminder.
Even those of us who have counceled people, advising them to do this very thing, tend to become distracted and forget to use these principles in our own lives.
Many times I have quoted your teachings on this, as well as Ram Dass's "Be Here Now", being fully in the moment and acknowledging where our attentions are focussed and where we would like for them to be focussed.
During a very challenging past couple of years, I forgot to do any of this; I lost my focus and belief in myself to overcome any obstacle and bring my dreams and goals to fruition.
Thank you, once again, for sharing your teachings with us, and the gentle reminders of how to stay on our own personal path.
In Love,
Terra
