Make Your Own India Ink Party Decor

Spotted at Tail of the Yak in Berkeley: exotic party decor in the form of paper flowers, garlands and mobiles made with antique fabric stamps. Co-founders Lauren and Alice fashion these magical garlands using India ink, colored paper, gold leaf and string. See inspirational images and sources below. Photography by Mimi Giboin for Remodelista.

Above: Lauren and Alice printed these red patterns onto white paper garlands.

Above: For color, source J. Herbin Fountain Pen Ink (L); $10 each at Tail of the Yak. Also consider a set of India ink such as Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bombay India Ink Set (R); $32.49 from Amazon.

you can check out Martha Stewart party ideas in her Living the public libraries for free. I always browse the "good ideas" section for things to make. Some are stupid, but others are really cool crafts, and use things you have around the house. Public libraries are an excellant source for books on origami, flower arranging, etc that you can make your party handmade and special. There is always the Dollar Store for those who are less crafty.
