Meet Your Silent Witness

The core of my being is the ultimate reality, the root and ground of the universe, the source of all that exists.

Go to a quiet place where you are not likely to be disturbed. Put on a tape or CD of your favorite soothing music. Close your eyes. As you do so, turn your attention to who is really listening. Begin to notice two different facets of yourself. Your ears pick up the sound and your brain processes the notes, but thatís only the mechanics of hearing. What connects the notes so that they form music? Are you thinking about listening. Who is doing the actual listening?

Notice the silent witness, the silent listener who is always present. This presence exists not only in yourself, but also in the space around you. It is that part of yourself that is beyond the thoughts and feelings of the moment, the part that never tires and never sleeps. Nor can this part of you ever be destroyed. Recognize that this silent witness is always there.

Jane B. Sadly when you die you will rot and become dirt or stardust as you mentioned. Lucky for everyone else, our souls will live on. No wonder you are so negitive, you can only look forward to your body rotting when you die.

continued...Hmm...let's see, perhaps you've at some point in your life - (I'm pretty sure you have - you are an intuitive person it seems, just hell bent on squashing that part of you perhaps, maybe it scares you? just guessing!) - ever had a moment of 'intuition' 'insight' that made you wonder wow....where did that come from? A feeling that you shouldn't or should do or say something in particular? A feeling that sort of defies logic? I'm sure you have....I believe those little tidbits of wisdom come from the vast knowledge that belongs to the silent witness. Who is it that is drawn to these pages, Jane? Let's face it....a person that operates only on ratio, as you say and vehemently argue, would hardly come back to these pages each and every day to 'straighten us all out'. Now would they? So who is it that guides you back here? Inside of you? I'm glad you are here though Jane, you stir things up...and you always make me smile, and you make me want to respond. So hey, there you have it.....it serves a purpose.....Deepak, thank you for another opportunity to feel connected.
Three cheers for those at CERN and the Higgs particle it must be happy to have been found! Namaste.

Goodmorning Deepak, and how timely a post!! Thank you and all that have commented equally for a big smile on my face, to start the day!
"Notice the silent witness, the silent listener who is always present. This presence exists not only in yourself, but also in the space around you. I just checked the day that you posted this and that was the day before CERN actually published their wonderful news: the HIGGS particle, or as Lederman popularly called it the 'God particle' has been found.
You write:"this presence exists not only within you but also in the space around you!!"

We can't see it (well in Switzerland they can now) but ....it's there just the same, and it is at the root of all that we see! Now, dear Jane B. try that one on for size;-)
I realize you believe that what you see is what you get, and of course, hormones do have an influence on our 'emotional state'. Yet, that is not what Deepak refers to when he speaks of the silent witness. Hmm...let's see, perhaps you've at some point in your life - (I'm pretty sure you have - you are an intuitive person it seems, just hell bent on squashing that part of you perhaps, maybe it scares you? just guessing!) - ever had a moment of 'intuition' 'insight' that made you wonder wow....where did that c

"It is that part of yourself that is beyond the thoughts and feelings of the moment, the part that never tires and never sleeps. Nor can this part of you ever be destroyed."

Our bodies and our minds are not separate. Our thoughts and feelings can't be separated from our bodies because our hormones which are in our bodies CAUSE our thoughts and feelings. Without our bodies we cannot think or live. We do not exist without our bodies.
Our bodies are the most important things we have. Living depends entirely on our bodies and our bodies are mortal. Nobody has EVER gotten out of this life alive. When we die, blood stops flowing to our brain where all our thoughts originate. Therefore when our brain sufficates from lack of oxygen, we can't think any more and our brain dies. All the thoughts
and feelings that were in our brains are gone at that point and the energy field around our body ceases. It is not possible to separate out our thoughts from our body and they are destroyed forever. Death is the end of us forever and like ALL life on earth our bodies rot and
return to the environment from which it came. We are just dirt or as some like to imagine,
stardust. Fairy gods and imaginary spirits do not exist except in the minds of the superstitious and ignorant.
