Natural Hair Spray Recipe

By Annie B. Bond

Hair spray often contains plastic and other chemical ingredients that are less than ideal to be breathing! Fortunately, there is a homemade alternative that works!

A friend told me about this recipe, and I’ve found it to be very impressive; it really holds hair well.

Light and Lemon Hair Spray

2 to 4 lemons

Water

Slice the lemons and cover with water in a pan. Simmer for 1 hour, adding more water as it evaporates. Let cool, then strain. Pour the lemon liquid into a pump spray bottle.

Makes 2 to 3 cups.

Shelf life: About one week refrigerated.

Michelle, you don't have to wait 1 week before using it. All it's saying is you need to use that particular batch before it 'goes bad' and at which point you just have to make more.

I don't use hairspray, but if I did, or if i knew someone who ran out of hair spray and had a few hrs. before they accually needed it, than this might come in handy.

i'm 19 - just to put that in the open seeing how everyone else did. Anyways this lemon treatment sounds great. Not too happy about the whole wait-for-one-week-part though, but i think i'll make it, till then i'll just check out the sugar treatment - SWEET - lol!

Brenda is absolutly right, my mother used the lemon juice as the gel boys use nowadays ro conb my brothr's hair and have the look of just being the hair done.

The lemon actually works! I am 24 and I remember my mom diluting lemon with water and using to style my hair when I was little

I'm 36 yrs. old have known about the lemon trick since i can remember, which was actually passed down from a relative in Mexico. However, we don't delute and boil with water, we simply squeeze the lemon in the palm of our hand and apply to the hair. Works great! I think i will try the boiling method as well.

This should work pretty well, if previous experience with apple juice in hair is any indication! :) And as a bonus it might lighten your hair as well! (probably smells nice too!) :) Thanks!
