For years, I was having frequent outbreaks of Herpes Simplex on my buttock. I was prescribed several different things~oral meds and ointments (very expensive). A friend suggested I take Lysine. No more outbreaks. Now M.D. wants me to take the vaccine. Am hesitant to do so. Am doing some research.
I would really think twice (or maybe 15 times) before I'd have sex with someone who has herpes and is treating himself with a home remedy.
Apologies. I meant to say prevents rather that cures.
Thanks members, for your comments. I found nutritional yeast heals herpes simplex. One chronic sufferer tried it and said it was the first time in years he didn't have a cold sore.
I already eat a healthy diet & get plenty of exercise, but I am fortunate not to have encountered or suffered this std.
I take an L-Lysine tablet (1,000 mg) and olive leaf extract (in Vegecap form) every day to help prevent outbreaks. If I feel "the tingle" I increase the dosage. Works well for me.
Erika M thank you for the peppermint oil suggestion for cold sores. Not that I get them very often BUT I do use YLEO and have a few bottles of peppermint oil so will have to remember when next I get a cold sore.
