Taking everyday objects and turning them into chic pieces of functional design takes wonderful form in reestore’s “Annie the shopping trolley” chair (yes, it’s British).

Taking carts that were landfill bound due to missing wheels or bent legs, designer Max McMurdo works his magic and “poof!” they are pieces you’d love to own. Reestore attempts to “avoid traditional eco materials in favor of contemporary finishes, fabrics, and, above all, style.” Job well done.

very inspiring , I must admit ,even though I started doing green furniture 20 years at michaels upholstery. I pretty much limited myself to greening traditional and antique furniture. all or part of any existing sofa or chair can be reupholstered in green materials. Our dumpster rescue literally prevented an old chair from its landfill fate . there is also a hugh advantage recovering and restyling older furniture because it was made and built much better than todays furniture. new furniture is beautiful on the outside but frightening on the inside and not made to last evan one generation. This shopping cart with chrome grid is classic and remanisant of a past era. This concept and creative use of anything existing and converting it into something functional and chic is timely, not to mention un limiting.
I will now apply this insight to any future projects in my studio in san rafael ca. and will be open to suggestions
,collaborations or consulting. I'll keep my eyes and mind open and see where that goes.
REminding you to REduce,REmodel,REcover,REdesign,REfinish then REUSE
