Research Shows Herb Protects DNA from Disease

Research Shows Herb Protects DNA from Disease

Sage has a proven history at boosting memory and balancing menopausal and PMS symptoms, but perhaps the most exciting benefit of sage essential oil is that it may actually protect genetic material from damage.

According to a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry scientists found that compounds in sage may protect cellular DNA from damage and may even stimulate DNA repair in already damaged cells.  While the research is new and has not been tested on humans, this exciting advancement could help in the prevention and treatment of genetic diseases as well as diseases with a genetic component like cancer, heart disease and others.

It did not mention how the sage essential oil was used in the study, I guess I am assuming that it is more used in a diffuser & that through olfactory response. It is protecting &,even healing damaged DNA? That is remarkable! If this is being tested on animals though, I hope it is ethical testing, as I know that many essential oils are toxic to cat's because of the phenols & ketones Some essential oils are fine w/ dogs, but NOT cat's!, yet there are MANY pet products on the market using many of these oils that are toxic, yet marketed as safe! (I know, because I have bought products with these oils in them, before I knew any wiser...the label said they were SAFE!) Essential oils that contain PHENOLS & are particularly toxic to cat's & cause liver damage are: Tea tree oil, Oregano, Thyme,Eucalyptus, Clove, Cinnamon, Bay Leaf, Parsley, Savory. Essential oils that contain KEYTONES, which cause neurological toxicity symptoms are: *Cedar Leaf,* Sage, *Hyssop,*Cyprus, Lavender, Mint, *Caraway, Citronella, *Clove, *Ginger, Chamomile, Thyme, Rosemary (those marked with an * give particular cause for concern. Diffusing, topical application, or cleaning products with ANY & ALL of these oils should be completely AVOIDED!
